Where is the closest accommodation to Olinda Falls in the Dandenongs? Here are nearby camping, homestay, and hotel suggestions and their distance to the falls. All distances below are by road to the start of the short walk to the falls from the picnic area. Above: Olinda Falls (Order this image) The nearest accommodation that I could find is a mere 30 metres from the Olinda Falls car park. This stylish 3 bedroom house (Fernview on Falls) sleeps up to eight people, with a huge floor to ceiling window in the lounge room that showcases the surrounding forest from the comfort of your lounge chair. Slightly further away, but similarly impressive is the octagonal Risehill House with wraparound balconies overlooking the forest, which I believe was once lived in by my Grade 1 primary school teacher (who I remember telling us she had a round house in Kalorama).

Above: Fernview on Falls is actually closer to the Olinda Falls car park than the falls are to the car park (Order this image) Kalorama is the closest locality to the falls, but it only has a single cafe. If you would like to stay close to the falls, but also close to a variety of unique and interesting shops, Olinda is only 3.3 km away by road. Three accommodation options on the main street, located in the heart of Olinda are shown below. All are within a few steps of the local shops. Make sure you check out the somewhat opulent Loft in the Mill, even if only for a stickybeak!

There is no camping at the Olinda Falls picnic area. I have bivouacked once in the Olinda State Forest a few decades ago but the rules are clear nowadays that there is no camping permitted within the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Similarly there are no caravan parks in the Dandenong Ranges, with the nearest caravan park in Lilydale being too far away to be touted for camping near Olinda Falls.
